Overseas Express, leader on the Croatian market for combi-freight, and Eurodis expecting significant changes to the transport industry after 1st July. Companies are planning daily transport lines to and from Croatia.
With Croatia becoming the 28th member state of the European Union on 1st July 2013 significant changes for the transport industry and its customers will arise. “Companies like EURODIS, who are specialized on international transport will see a sharp increase in volumes”, expects Carsten Siebe, managing director at EURODIS GmbH. “Supply chain will become cheaper and faster, mainly because there is no delay through custom clearance and customs duties will no longer apply.” Therefore EURODIS, a transport network for shipments ranging from 1-kg parcels to 800-kg pallets (combined freight) in 34 European countries will introduce daily transport lines between Croatia and Germany from July. “Cut lead times and the removal of customs duties make direct deliveries to Croatian consignees interesting for central European shippers.”
The Croatian partner and shareholder of EURODIS is Overseas Express, the market leader in the combined freight sector in the imminent EU-membership country and a 100% subsidiary of the Austrian Post. “Since 2010 we are member of the Eurodis network”, explains Boris Brkovic, CEO at Overseas Express. “Based on this stable collaboration we have finalized operational adjustments and are looking forward to new and improved conditions.” Similar to Siebe from EURODIS Brkovic expects “an essential increase in international volumes, especially on imports from other EU countries as a result of the removal of customs duties.“
